Coping With Stress, Maybe Weird Japanese Practice?

How do you cope with your stress?  Do you tell others your way or keep it to youself?  Maybe the following is a kind of Japanese way to remove stress in a society where showing anger/frustrations is seriously replimanded.

Someone we know said whenever feeling stressful, she 1) buys a stuffed doll/animal, 2) vents her anger/frustrations onto the doll (e.g., cursing at someone who made her angry/frustated), and then 3) cuts the doll into small pieces with scissors.  If you upset them, you would definitely be cursed by them.  We would like to stay away from those scary people, right?  Especially from those who tell us their cursing practices!!

However, this is actually another version (or easy version, because of an easy access to stuffed dolls) of hitting a nail into the straw figure in order to curse out the person (figuratively, the figure) to death.  People even in old days, like the Edo Period,  did bring the figure with a nail in its chest to a nearby shrine, asking Shingo God to help them inflict harm on their aggressor.  Now, the kit for this practice is still available.  Probably, we should be very careful not to anger Japanese people who smile without showing negative feelings toward us.

Do you think this is a good way to relieve stress?  Who tells this secret practice to others?  Would you?
