How do you keep your half-finished drinks in the refrigerator? What about the frige at your workplace? Do you write your name on the drinks?

In contrast, in Japan people rarely ask for such a "formality" favor. We assumed that probably Japanese do not have to worry about that. Or, Japan is safe and everybody is, generally speaking, well-behaved... possibly.
What about working places? People you work with are co-workers or friends at work, not strangers at all, right? Would you keep your unfinished drinks in the refrigerator of your workplace? We would not. The bottles are unscrewed, which means easy access if someone evil-minded would do some tricks to the drinks. Here, a common assumption is that nobody would even try. Yes probably, not!!
Very recently, shocking news was reported: one guy in Hokkaido was arrested for allegedly tampering his female co-worker's drink, which was kept in their company's refrigerator. For whaterver measures, the man put his BODY FLUID into the drink bottle. We have to wait and see what that body fluid actually means, but everybody assumes that the wording is a euphemism to mean something very gross.
We do not know for sure the suspect's motivations, but he might have had a crash on that female coworker, which is just our wild guess. Japanease "Soshoku Danshi" (English: "Herbivorous Males," who are very shy about relationships explained in our previous post) may have something to do with his criminal act.
The female co-worker is reported to have detected some strange odor in the drink, which lead to the investigation and then arrest the suspect.
What a relief that she did not drink! Please watch out!!
