Must gift items from Toyama, Nodoguro Rice Crackers

Have you ever tried Nodoguro (officially Akamutsu, Blackthroat seaperch, a fish), which is known for its distinct feature of "black throat" and its fatty taste?

It is expensive but a must item for those travelling in the Hokuriku region, such as Toyama and Ishikawa prefectures.

Kei Nishikori, a famous Japanese male tennis player, once said that he craved for Nodoguro at the victory interview after winning the second place in US Open 2014.  This greatly contributed to the popularity of NodoguroNodoguro is served in different ways, but grilled one with lemon juice is highly recommended.

These two packages are Nodoguro Rice Crackers.
You can see the two pink fish on its package, which is Nodoguro.

You can try the fish in restaurants, but here is a good tip!

Toyama has introduced perfect gifts called "Nodoguro Rice Crackers".  The traditionally famous "White Shrimp Rice Crackers" is one of the must gift items, but this "Nodoguro" one (as shown in the picture above and below) has more kick than the "Shrimp" one (the picutres shown in the last picture).

These two are White Shrimp Rice Crackers.

When you visit Hokuriku region or you are on a tour of "Shoryu-Dou" (See our trip post at Tune in Nagoya Trips),  you should not miss these rice crackers!!
