The City of
Tonami, located in
Toyama prefecture, is very famous for tulips. The city's dedication to developing different kinds of tulips has been fascinating a lot of gardeners. Some tulips (given special names) have been dedicated to Japanese Imperial Families. Tonami may not be an easy access from Nagoya in making a one day trip, but two days would be enough before/after visiting Kanazawa, Ishikawa prefecture, or Toyama, Toyama prefecture.
During the
Golden Week (from the very end of April to the beginning of May), when Japanese workers can take a week-long spring vacation,
the City of Tonami holds an annual
Tulip Fair. Here are some pictures taken during
the 2018 Tulip Fair.

A tulip monument welcomes visitors to the art exhibit. With a closer look, you can see an angel flying out of its tip.
Special and unique Tulips (shown in the following pictures) include those (called "Royal Collection") dedicated to Japanese Imperial Family.

Can you believe this is a kind of tulip?
Tulips are all over in the venue.
Can you believe that the above two flowers (orange and white) are actually tulips?
Macha (English: green tea) is served inside the art exhibit in the venue.

When you go to Toyama, you should drop by at Tonami as well. Even though you are not a big fan of flowers, you will get reinvigorated for sure!!
