Merry Christmas from Nagoya

Merry Christamas from Nagoya!  

Here are some pictures taken at Nagoya Station: a Christmas tree/decorations in front of Nagoya JR Gate Tower and "Nana-chan doll," a well-known big standing figure, which cordially welcomes visitors and locals to Nagoya.

"Nana-chan doll" standing outside of Meitetsu Bus Depot.  You can imagine how high she is, comparing with the hights of people passying by.  In December, she will change her outfit for Christmas.  

This "Nana-chan doll" is a small version of her in the picture above.  This is inside the building.  

We would also like to share an interesting travel tip durng this festive season. 

We highy recommend you use simple ENGLISH, not Japanese,  to grab people's attentnion.  English is always preferrable in terms of train rides.   Remember, however, SIMPLE English!

If you have to travel by train in morning/evening rush hours, remember that you have to be agressive, literally pushing yourself onto the train.  You should not wait for less crowded trains, which never come in those hours.  

Before pushing youself on the crowded trains, use  "excuse me" in English, not "sumimasen"  (meaning 'excuse me" in Japanese).  This small tip perfectly works in getting off.  Japanese people are always nice, but they act much more nicely to foreigners.  

 Our Japanese friends always use this trick to manage their stressful commuting hours.  You should try this!
