Convenience stores are ubiquitous all over Japan. When you need something, you can go into a convenience store near where you are. You do not even have to look for it. It is almost everywhere and really convenient: Almost everything, ranging from light snacks, drinks, to first-aid kits and medicines, can be purchased there.
What we would like to strongly recommend sport-game goers buy is "Lunch Pack" (Japanese: ランチパック).
Lunch Pack "Egg" and Chuhai or a alcoholic drink (Bitter Lemon Flavor) |
This is a sort of sandwich wrapped in a plastic packet and has six popular kinds available: Eggs, Peanut Butter, "Katsu" (English: cutlet), Tuna and Mayonnaise, Ham and Mayonnaise, and strawberry jam and margarine. All of these ingredients are sandwiched and easy to eat while cheering for your favorite sport team. Although "Lunch Pack" has been available for a long time in Japan, this has made a great hit during 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, as you may have already known.
Unlike other types of sandwiches, this "Lunch Pack" is really neat. It contains only two square-shaped sandwiches, more conveniently, edges of which are securely sealed (see the picture below). You do not have to worry about spilling the ingredients. Nor do you worry about making your hands dirty by picking up each piece. Just rip the top of the packet and eat it. Moreover, due to its decent size of each sandwich, it is filling as well.
Of course, it is up to you about what ingredient(s) you choose, but our favorite is "Egg" one (Japanese: たまご) as shown in the picture above. If you want to try a little bit Japanese taste, you can try "Tuna and Mayonnaise" one. These two can go well with beer and other alcoholic drinks. "Katsu" and "Ham and Mayonnaise" are good for drinks as well.
